My background

Growing up on a farm in rural Alberta, I love a big open sky. I also find home in far away places, learning through travels near and far. As a life long learner, I’m curious about the ethics and practices that bind us as humans and our capacity to heal through connection of mind-body-spirit. I completed my doctoral research on the concept of global citizenship and soon after, started an adventure into motherhood and mental/spiritual/physical wellness. I have found my home in psychology, where I am forever learning about the ways trauma disconnects us and the power of yoga and psychotherapy to heal. I have spent the last several years working in the field of mental health in schools and communities in which I live.

My counselling approach

One size does not fit all. My counselling approach is person-centered and informed by evidence-based research and practice. My approach is collaborative in which I become your co-pilot on your journey to wellness. We take time to clarify your challenges, define goals and explore ways to reach them.

Taking the step to seek counselling can be a difficult one. I am committed to providing a safe and trauma-informed space to help people feel comfortable to take these steps with me. Some of the therapeutic approaches I use:

  • Somatic therapies (Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing, EMDR)

  • Mindfulness baed therapies (Mindful Self-Compassion)

  • Cognitive-behavioural therapies (CBT and ACT)

  • Post-structural therapies (Narrative Therapy and Feminist)

I believe it is never too early or late to make your wellness a priority. Counselling provides a safe and confidential way to go inward and address problems you may be struggling with. When you are working with me, you can expect to find a really good listener, an open mind and heart.

Mission:

To help people connect, heal, and live with a greater sense of wellbeing; guided by the following principles:

  • Empowerment

People are the experts of their own experience; learning to tune in and listen helps to uncover one’s wisdom and strength.

  • Diversity

Respect for all; people with diverse belief systems, gender identities and sexual orientation, ethnicity, age and class are welcome.

  • Safety and Connection

Learning and healing happen in the context of safety and connection; we begin where you are. From here, we can explore and grow.

  • Wellness

Wellness is about attending to mind, body and spirit. All dimensions of wellness need our attention to flourish and live our best lives possible
