Yoga

My yoga practice began in 2001 after retiring from the sport of swimming. Yoga gave me the tools to listen to my body in a new way. My body was no longer a machine, but something to be tuned into, and connected with. Over the years of practice, I have learned from extraordinary teachers and have cultivated an intuitive and integrated practice of connecting movement with breath and spirit. Though I have taken workshops and classes in a variety of lineages, I feel most at home in Ashtanga.

In my teaching, I meet my students where they are at. I offer a variety of classes to all bodies of all ages and abilities. From kids yoga in schools to chair yoga for seniors in assisted living facilities. For my ongoing weekly classes, my intention is about connection. You’ll find candles, an indie-rock playlist and laughter.

Here is a talk I did recently on Connection Through Yoga

Current classes

Training

My formal yoga teacher training began in 2012 under the guidance of Melissa Wasserfall and Laeoni Gano in Edmonton. Both are heart-centered, female empowered vinyasa teachers who harnessed our individual strengths to meet our students where they at.

  • Lotus Soul 200 hr teacher training, 2013

Subsequent trainings include:

  • Teacher Refresh and Reboot (South Okanagan Yoga Academy, 2019)

  • Trauma Informed Yoga Training  (Empowered Yoga, 2016)

  • Kids Yoga Level One (Yoga in My School, 2015)

Music

A good playlist sets the mood, energy and pace of a class. Here are a couple of my favorite tracks to move and breathe to.
